Common Questions

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW?

How long do post frame buildings last?

60-80 Years

For most purposes, a post frame constructed building will be indistinguishable in service and lifespan to a traditionally constructed building. Treated wood posts in the ground will last 60-80 years with proper drainage – the same lifespan as a poured basement wall.

What is the difference between pole barn and post frame?

Post frame construction is the building process used for creating what are frequently referred to as pole barns. Post frame is the construction method, while the pole barn is just one result. Municipal buildings, fire stations, schools, clinics and even attractive homes are built using this method of construction.

Is a post frame home cheaper?

A Post-frame home can be cheaper. Post-frame uses less materials than stick-frame to save on building material cost. Plumbing, electrical, drywall, kitchen and bathroom work will all cost the same. Depending on your final design, the costs savings may be negligible.

Do you pour concrete before or after a post frame building is constructed?

You should not have your concrete slab poured before a post frame building is constructed. After the poles are set and skirt board is placed around the perimeter of the poles, you will have a form to pour your concrete slab. Concrete is normally poured through the large door opening.

Are post frame buildings strong?

Post-frame construction makes use of a unique combination of sturdy posts and heavy-duty roof trusses, which are directly connected. This construction method, combined with the steel panel roofs and siding that most post-frame buildings use, makes for an exceptionally strong building.
